These Are Winter's Trendiest Paint Colors, Straight From the Experts

Color us cozy: The year is rapidly drawing to an end and we're finally getting to wear those winter coats that usually hang at the back of our closets. If you've got one final home redesign on the brain, a good place to start might be paint choices.

We're always on the lookout for input from experts about color trends. To celebrate the winter season, we asked the pros what colors you should expect to see in these chillier months. Check out their input for some inspiration.

Cool and Calming Blues

"I especially love using cool blues like Frozen in bedrooms and bathrooms because blues always feel tranquil and relaxing, which is exactly how you want to feel in these spaces," Nicole Gibbons, founder of Clare, tells Hunker.

These hues can also help you unwind and decompress from all the holiday chaos.

"Blues like Light Drizzle or Dark Navy are de-stressing colors that feel cool and serene at busy times of the year," Erika Woelfel, color expert at Behr, tells Hunker.

Crisp and Minimalist Neutral Hues

Woelfel recommends looking for neutrals that feel "fresh, light, and cozy," such as Behr's Swiss Coffee and Antique White. Rugs, pillows, and textiles will help add to this homey feeling, she explains.

This also works well if you gravitate towards a more pared down home decor style.

"Minimalism is coming back in a big way," Gibbons says. "Along with that, people gravitate toward crisp neutral color palettes."

A Dose of Gray

While you might not feel inclined to use gray on every single wall, even a pop of the color here and there can create a cozy atmosphere.

"Warm beiges and grays combined with clean white and elegant greens will gain in popularity throughout 2020," Ashley Banbury, Sr. Color Designer from HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams, tells Hunker.
